I always caution my clients to buy a piece because they love it. Try not to be too hung up on the idea of matching everything. Strong colors are good. They will make a statement and make the artwork pop from the wall and probably get guests talking.
Thank you so much to Matt for asking me to guest blog for him! Must admit, this is my first guest blog so I'm feeling the need to be my unusually polite self. If you've read my blog Sashay, you may be aware that I do tend toward the irreverent on more occasions than not... I'll endeavor to stay on my best behavior here. For now...
Matt gave me free reign to talk about whatever interested me. I'm a designer, design junkie and worshiper of design. What started out as looking for suggestions on how to use art to change your room from season to season quickly morphed into a pet peeve of mine when it comes to decorating. The Dreaded Condiment Colour scheme aka Autumnal Palettes.
- Pick the right Realtor! It goes without saying but too often I see people using a Realtor by default. If you are selling your home, pick a Realtor that has a good working knowledge of the home you are trying to sell and that has greater odds of attracting clients to your home. An example would be selling your home in a very dominant English part of town and picking a Realtor who can't speak English! Or picking one that has 0 involvement in your community by choice or because he lives 3 towns over! You are paying for a Realtor's service, so get the best one possible. Get your questions ready before they show up and interview them until you find the right one.
