I’ve been working for an advertising agency for the past ten years and today I can happily announce that I’m officially retiring from the corporate world.  I’m beyond excited about this decision.  Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed working for “the man” for all those years and I’ve learned so much along the way.  But today, it’s about me.  It’s about reaching my ultimate goal. Today is the day I stop working for the man.  Today is the day that I start working for myself and only myself. Today is a great day!

I really feel like I’m retiring completely.  I’m making the jump to a full time artist and creating and selling art is not a job for me. It’s a passion.  I really enjoy it.  So in a sense, I feel as if I won’t be working.  I’ll just have fun and make money out of it.  It’s a dream come true there’s no question about it. How many people can actually say that they don’t feel like they’re working?

I’m really looking forward to having my life back. As sad as it sounds, I’ve been working almost day and night for the past 3 years.  80 hours a week have become the norm and I was starting to feel very tired and overworked (you think?).  There were so many things I wanted to do which time was always an issue.  Now that I won’t be stuck in an office 40 hours a week, I can devote more time to my art and especially my family.

All those hours working on my business didn’t come without sacrifices.  My family has been very supportive.  Do you know how many times they left the home to go to the park, the beach or just to play outside and I was left alone with my canvas?  Way too many times and as a family man, it’s hard to take.  But things needed to get done and I’ve done them.  Now it’s time to take my life back.

I consider myself a very successful artist. I’m not saying this because I’m full of myself; far from it.  I’m saying this because I’ve work my a** off the past 5 years to build my brand.  The very, very long hours paid off for me. Everything is finally clicking together and I can truly say that I’ve made it (in my books anyways).
