There's a lot of new stuff brewing at Matt
LeBlanc Art. I mentioned in my previous newsletter that I was working on
a new product for children's rooms. It's my "Featured painting of the
month" for November. This painting can be done in any size and made to match
the colours in the room. You can go a bit modern like in the example below, or
get a little funkier with bright colors and have something really fun for the
room.
This product can also be done on individual small canvases, where each letter
is one canvas. It can by hung on the wall or placed on a shelf - it all
depends on the look you're going for. Go ahead, send me pictures of your
child's room and tell me what you'd like - I can't wait to do more!!
Another project in the works is updates to
my website. This will hopefully be done before Christmas. I'm adding
lots of new sections, like a blog and a video section, and there will be
multiple galleries where you can buy original art, prints (reproduction work at
a lower cost), higher end products, and family products like the one I'm
introducing you to in this newsletter.
The first step towards updating my website was taking new photos of the artist
(moi). The experience was really fun, even though it felt like -20 with
the windchill. The pictures were taken by a good friend of mine,
photographer Doug Hanson. Take a look at the new shot HERE which will become my main image on the home page. Sincerely, Matt

Seasonal Selections
By Malcolm Patterson, Designer/Senior Stylist of Pure Design on HGTV

The holidays
are just around the corner - have you thought about your seasonal home décor?
The stores are ripe with fresh and exciting ideas, so get out there and explore
the possibilities!
Take on this challenge as you would any décor decision regarding your home.
First, consider a possible colour palette. Holiday décor should be an extension
of your home, not something that overpowers your entire look. Every possibility
is available nowadays, from modern to traditional. There are no longer
"rules" for holiday décor, so have fun with it.
Get inspiration from your home - artwork is always a great place to start. Pull
an amazing colour from a painting you love and use that as a jumping off point
for your colour scheme. The more colours you add to it, the more eclectic it
will be. If you choose to keep it more monochromatic by using only one or two colours, the feel will generally be
more modern.
Traditional red is always a classic choice, but some of the latest trends will
add a fun twist. Purple is a huge trend right now, and many stores have a
dedicated holiday section just for purple. Looking for a more Canadiana feel? Plaid
has also made a comeback - new combinations and patterns are popping up
everywhere. Step up your look by adding silver or gold to any colour for
instant sparkle.
Carry the look throughout your home. The eye likes repetition, so pull a colour
from your tree ornaments and follow through with a great table runner in the
same colour. You can even coordinate your gift wrapping with your décor to
complete the entire look.
When it comes to colour, go wild. But for Christmas lights, my favorite is
always white. Crisp and classic, you can never go wrong with white lights for
the holidays. I even put dimmer switches on my indoor lights for added ambiance
during parties.
Have fun with your holiday decorating and remember, sometimes less is more. But
if you're going to go all out, do it big! Enjoy the season and have a safe and
Happy New Year.
Malcolm
